Sometimes we go through phases where we feel the need to incessantly control situations. Control, not only gives us the sense of power over ones life, but also is like our very own man made, safety net. Then the universe reminds you that no matter what you do you are not in control, but he is!

Here are a few ways that can help you learn to let go.

Notice the root: The root of your dilemma is that you need to control everything and know where things are headed, out of FEAR. Perhaps you have been through a similar situation in the past and are scared of certain cycles or perhaps the unknown makes you ‘jittery’. However, you have to allow yourself to live in the NOW. You have to allow yourself to face your own demons and your own fears. Life is too short to hold back from allowing yourself to be happy, NOW!

Let go of thinking ‘If I do things a certain way then I will get the outcome I seek’– Again, this would translate to allowing control to be your safety net. I am sorry to break it to you, but no matter how much you plan your next move in situations, you have no idea what the outcome will be. Do what makes you comfortable and stay away from negativity. Allow the universe to decide how things play out. All you have to do, is play.

Question yourself: What is the worst that could happen if you let go of your fears? Will things truly crumble to the floor? Well here’s the ironic part. If you live in fear, you will never find out. You will never find out if you were strong enough to pick up the pieces and you will never know if the outcome of your situation will turn out exactly as you hoped it to be.

Surrender cancels out ANXIETY– By surrendering to your surroundings and fighting the need to control situations, you will notice a happier YOU. Your Anxiety levels will drop and you will be able to enjoy yourself without living in limbo of the past and future. Live in your present and present ONLY!

Acceptance: By accepting that you are not going to have all the answers right now you will find inner peace. You need to have faith that you will get your desired answers and that things have a funny way of working out. Even if it’s not what you hoped for, it will work out for the best.

Believe in yourself and believe in positive energy. In the words of Budha “Be patient, Everything comes to you at the right time”.

Or perhaps…when you least expect it.
