Being Single on Valentines Day can be extremely difficult. Everyone seems to be shoving the word ‘love’ in your face. It seems like no matter what you do you can’t be happy on this day unless you are in a relationship. WRONG! Yes you can. Here are 4 things you should keep in mind on V’Day:
There are different forms of love: So, you do not have a boyfriend or girlfriend on this day. However, you have friends and family that probably love you. Instead of mopping around about what you don’t have, why not spend some time finding ways to show the people you DO HAVE, how much they mean to you? After all, it is a day for love.
Freedom: Do you know how lucky you are that you have freedom? Couples spend this day spending money and trying to figure out how to show their other half how much they love them. You do not have this responsibility. Enjoy your freedom. You won’t have it forever.
Hope: It’s amazing to see couples that have found each other and can spend this day together. They have found something that we all somewhere crave. However, if you think about it, their ‘game’ is over. You still get to ‘play’! You still get to have many ‘firsts’, many ice cream break outs, many over analysing of texts and most importantly, you still get to HOPE for that perfect person. That person will find you but try using this time alone to find YOURSELF.
You are not alone: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are many other people who are single on this day and are spending it with friends and family, just like you. So instead of being sad, put on your best dress, call the people you can always rely on, go out and have fun. These moments and this level of freedom will not come again. Be grateful that you have them. Lastly, don’t forget your red lipstick.
You never know who you might meet!
