WELLBEING

By Shahzeen Shivdasani

Want to stop waking up exhausted all the time? Miss that feeling you used to get when you woke up and had enough of energy for the day? Here are a few habits you can incorporate to ensure that you feel fresh every morning!

Change your bedtime– You need to start changing your bedtime. Not only do you need to ensure that you are getting 7-8 hours of sleep but you also need to pay attention to the time. If you are someone that sleeps late this can also be a huge factor as to why you never feel well rested. Try getting on a normal sleep schedule. You can try this by sleeping forty minutes earlier to your regular time.

Do not nap– If you are someone that can’t get to sleep at night. Then do not nap. Let your body tire it self-out so you can sleep earlier at night.

Put your phone on silent– Your phone can be a huge distraction. Social Media, news, calls, texts, Google, shall I go on? Put your phone away. You need to numb your mind and get it ready for bed.

Turn the TV off: Know when to turn the T.V. off! The reason for this is, although we watch TV to de-stress at the end of the day, if we find something that interests us are mind awakens again. Decide when you wish to go to bed and tell yourself you can continue whatever you are watching tomorrow.

It’s Never too late for change: If you feel you are not managing to do any of the above and are getting disheartened, don’t be. Changing something takes time. In the words of singer, Aaliyah,“if at first you don’t succeeded, you can dust it of and try again”.
